Morgan Park History and Circuit Info
Morgan Park is a relatively new circuit, the Independent Race Series first visited the track in 2009.
Whilst it is new in relative terms, Morgan Park started its gestation a number of years ago, in 1968. The land was graded, and the venue used for dirt events. It wasn’t until 1997 that the circuit was first sealed. The initial layout was a short circuit of just 730m. Additions were soon made though, with a number of extensions, ultimately taking the full circuit upto 2.1km.
The track is location not far from the New England Highway, and the closest major centre is the town of Warwick.
For anyone from the southern states considering visiting Morgan Park, but baulking at the distance, you may be interested to know that to reach Warwick from Sydney is actually just under 2 hours quicker than the trip to Queensland Raceway!
The secret to a quick trip to Morgan Park is to avoid the Pacific Highway, and head inland via the New England Highway. For a quick look at some Google Maps directions (from Sydney to Warwick), click here.
Once you reach Warwick, you're in for a treat. In the words of queenslandholidays.com.au Warwick is: "An idyllic country destination, Warwick's cityscape is characterised by lovingly maintained sandstone buildings, countless pubs, restaurants, cafes, B&Bs, and a real sense of country hospitality." Click here for the full rundown on the town and surrounds.
The Morgan Park circuit shares many of the same values that are the hallmark of the Independent Race Series - fun, value-for-money racing, with esprit-de-corps high among those who've made it all happen. The layout is challenging and features racing in a clockwise direction over 2.1km of what is reportedly some of the smoothest bitumen around. Laptimes are around the 1min mark, and speeds are similar to Wakefield Park. For all the details on the circuit, visit the official website here.
There is accommodation in the area to suit a range of budgets, with the Shire of Warwick Tourism offering a full rundown (click here). Remember the circuit is on the southern side of town, about 5km from the Post Office.
So: a great town, full of excellent places to eat, plenty of accommodation, and a terrific race track, and to top it all off the fantastic iRace atmosphere. Where else would you rather be?

Oran Park History and Circuit Info
Oran Park was established in 1963. The original layout closely resembled what is today known as the “South Circuit”. After hosting events successfully for ten years, the “North Circuit” was added in 1973, and when linked with the South Circuit, formed the full “Grand Prix Circuit”. The name coming from the fact that the track hosted its first Australian Grand Prix on the layout.
The circuit has hosted many epic battles, and has hosted many rounds of the Australian Touring Car Championship. Sadly, the circuit is scheduled to wind down racing operations in 2010 to eventually become a residential estate.
Oran Park is located on Cobbity Road, Narellan. Nearby centres are Camden, Campbelltown and Liverpool. There are numerous motels and restaurants in the local area.
The GP Circuit layout that will be used for the opening round of the Independent Race Series is technical, figure-8 circuit. Circuit length is 2.6km, top speeds are in excess of 240km/h, and there are twelve challenging corners.
Spectators can generally get a good view of most parts ofthe circuit from most positions. Prime viewing areas include the final turn grandstand, leading onto the main straight, the dog-leg or flip-flop - a blind corner on the crest of a hill at the back of the circuit.
